Griha Pravesh ceremony is a Hindu Puja ceremony, which is performed at the time of entering a new house for the first time to purify the environment and protect the house from negative energy. Griha Pravesh Puja must be performed before moving into a new house for the happiness and prosperity of the family. Performing Griha Pravesh Puja at an auspicious time keeps evil forces away from the house and brings positive energy. What to do on the day of Griha Pravesh
decorate the door of the house
The main door of the house is decorated on that day as it is called Singh Dwar. On the day of Griha Pravesh Puja, make sure that the front entrance is decorated with flowers and marigold flowers and fresh mango leaf toran and put a string made of mango leaves and lemon on the door, which will ward off negative energies. You can also put Go-padma, lotus or any other spiritual symbol on both ends.
Make Rangoli
Rangoli is synonymous with the festive season and is believed to attract wealth and prosperity. Decorate the floor with rangoli made of rice flour or bright colours. Rangoli made on the floor welcomes Goddess Lakshmi. Make a rangoli near the entrance before conducting the griha pravesh puja using rice flour and rangoli colours available in the market. Make sure that the rangoli is not in the way of people coming in.
Clean the entire house
Clean the house thoroughly before the Griha Pravesh Puja so that it looks welcoming. This will invite positive energy into your home. The first thing you should buy for the house is a broom to get rid of all the dirt before the ceremony and start afresh. Mop every corner of your house before starting the puja. Mop the floor with salt water to clean and purify the place.
Spray in the house
Sprinkle Ganga water in your entire house. Place a Kalash of Ganga water in a corner of the house. Place raw mango leaves on this Kalash. Ganga water has a pure energy which removes negative energies from the house.
Flower decoration for housewarming
Decorate the entire house with flowers, apart from the main door and the Griha Pravesh puja area. Use fresh flowers for overhead hangings, arches, corners and centrepieces for tables. Traditional-themed string and garland decorations can be done using marigolds, tube roses and shevanti, etc., along with lotus and colourful threads. Floral balls and hangings made of flowers can be used to highlight different places in the house.

Set up a pavilion for housewarming

Light two lamps in front of the idol to attract spiritual energy and divine protection and offer sweets, flowers and fruits to the Lord.

In Griha Pravesh Puja, fill a copper vessel with Gangajal or water from any river and place it in front of the idol.
